& I just wanted to let you know how much fun we had this weekend.
It was such a great, relaxing time - we both enjoyed ourselves
immensely. The accommodations were fantastic, just what we needed.
I want to thank you and the people at HOPE so very, very much
for making this happen for us.
know, when a couple has children, there comes a day when Mom
and Dad feel like the kids are big enough to stay home alone
so Mom and Dad can go out together for dinner or a movie. Then,
hopefully, as the years go by, the kids come of an age when
Mom and Dad feel like they can get away for a weekend or so,
and trust the kids are mature enough not to tear the house down.
Even later, they look at the years to come when the children
are grown, out of the house, and Mom and Dad can go out, travel
and do all those other things folks do that don't have kids.
parents, (like Nick & I) have a child or adult with a disability
in the house, those days just don't ever seem to come. Our
retirement years look entirely different than we had planned.
Financially and emotionally, we sometimes have to struggle.
Of course, I cannot imagine our lives without Josh - we are
so blessed to have him with us always. However, sometimes,
we would just like to be Peggy & Nick, and take a break from
being Mom & Dad the caregivers. Since we have very little family
support nor do we have anyone to rely on to help with Josh,
it’s been tough for us to find time to be alone together for
more than a few hours here and there. After 28 years of marriage,
we do still cherish our time with each other. We just seem
to have less and less of it, and as time goes by we miss it
more and more.
to you and HOPE, this past weekend was absolutely fabulous.
We knew that Josh was in very good hands with Corey. The villa
was beautiful and had everything we needed. We took our time,
did some shopping, some sightseeing, quite a good bit of eating,
and lots and lots of relaxing together. I've attached a couple
of pics so you can see how much fun we had.
cannot tell you how much we appreciate the generosity and hard
work from both you and the folks at HOPE to put this together
for us. We are truly, truly thankful.
